Dr. Bailey Cole

Dr. Bailey Cole is a licensed psychologist who earned his Masters and Doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology at the University of California, Davis.
Dr. Cole obtained experience working in a variety of settings, including private practice, community mental health centers, hospitals, and correctional institutions. He has experience in conducting forensic evaluations and has completed psychological, substance abuse, risk assessment, and competency to stand trial evaluations, as well as sex offender evaluations. In addition, he has experience providing court-ordered psychotherapy for a wide array of concerns, including substance abuse, anger management, domestic violence, criminal recidivism, and community reintegration. Dr. Cole previously worked with the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Butner, North Carolina, as a part of the Commitment and Treatment Program.

Dr. Cole originally hails from Northern California but now calls Durham home. When not working, he can be found curling, engaging in all things nerdy, rooting on his Carolina/California sports teams, as well as spending time with his wife and their herd of dachshunds and potbelly pigs.

My approach to therapy

I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship and strive to build a strong rapport with my patients. I take a person-centered approach and work with people to find the balance that works for them. My training is in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing, among others.
